Start Smiling! (and why?)

I almost always end my day by laying in bed and thinking of at least three things that made me grateful or happy during my day. I've tried to keep a journal of these thoughts, but don't feel like writing late at night. I do however love the idea of blogging, and have seen some fabulous blogs in this same vein, so am finally going to put my own positive thoughts into the virtual world.

I believe that all thoughts have energy attatched to them and therefore make the effort to give myself good energy to sleep with each night. Focusing awareness on positive thoughts will not only give our own lives new wings but will bring the energy of the entire world to a new place. I often think of that theory, the Butterfly Effect: If a butterfly flaps its wings in a jungle the whole world can be affected (my own paraphrase).

Smiling at things, even our own thoughts actually makes good chemical reactions in our own bodies, so finding things to smile about seems a VERY good idea in this day and age where the mental health of humanity seems to be corroding by the day. (But don't dwell on that negative thought, please!)

What has made me smile today:

1. My son was clinging to me this morning when I took him to pre-school. He usually doesn't do this, but today he was nervous because a photographer was there taking pictures of the class. I smiled because it was sweet that he wanted me to stay, as he normally doesn't mind that I leave and I liked feeling that he needed me.

2. Two different people commented on how nice my hanging flower baskets look outside the house. I don't do a lot of gardening, so my effort on these made me proud.

3. A Robin was having a great time in the bird bath today, he was there for ages! It was a warm, balmy autumn day and the little bird seemed thrilled. Makes me grateful for the simple things (like a nice bath).

Smile about something today! I said so!
